I’ve always liked Vans’ products; when I was a teenager I’d always be after a pair of its skateboard shoes, as it was very much seen as the ‘cool’ brand. The Barkworth pants have kept to this stereotype in that they’re a seriously cool pair of boarding trousers.

They offer waterproofing and windproofing with the Vansguard waterproof fabric; taped seams and they’re also available as part of a set with a matching jacket.

The pants feature six giant pockets, including two ‘comfort pockets’ on the front for your hands that have been lined with a soft, fleece fabric for both warmth and comfort. The snow gaiters on the ankles have boot hooks so you can clip them into your snowboarding boot to prevent them from riding up and letting unwanted cold air and snow in. The trousers have been designed with correct form in mind, as the articulated knees enable the rider to be in the right riding position without stretching the fabric. The waist is also adjustable to make sure you get the right fit. But perhaps the thing I like best about the Barkworth pants is how great they look and how they almost take on the appearance of jeans.

As a two-layer pair of trousers, they’re not the warmest out there, but this isn’t too much of a problem as most people wear in technical base layers anyway. If you’re looking for a cool pair of trousers that’ll make you look the part on the slopes, the Barkworth pants won’t disappoint.
